"A Better Financial Future for the Bronx"

A Coalition organize to collectively expand financial access for the people of the Bronx through the Bronx People’s Federal Credit Union.

The Bronx Financial Access Coalition seeks to increase access to quality affordable and convenient financial services in the Bronx. Formed between 2020 and 2022 in response to a spate of bank branch closings in the Bronx, the Coalition has partnered with the Lower East Side People’s Federal Credit Union to launch the Bronx People’s Federal Credit Union division.

The Bronx Financial Access Coalition (BxFAC) is a partnership of Banana Kelly Community Improvement Association (BKCIA), University Neighborhood Housing Program (UNHP), We Stay/Nos Quedamos, and the Women’s Housing and Economic Development Corporation (WHEDco).

Together, with the Lower East Side People’s Federal Credit Union, we are dedicated to expanding and solidifying the financial opportunities for the residents of the Bronx.

Toward that end, we are working on establishing a brick-and-mortar storefront branch where the community can conduct its day-to-day banking dedicated to serving the region’s unique financial needs. While other financial institutions have left our community, or have historically divested or red-lined the South Bronx, we are gearing up to fill that crucial gap with services that are tailor-made with us in mind: The Bronx People’s Federal Credit Union.

On July 19, 2022, we officially launched the People’s Mobile Branch as part of the “The Bronx Takes Banking into its Own hands” campaign. The community joined us to celebrate this historical milestone as we pointed our compass toward financial independence and path to generational wealth in the region. Read the news.

The People’s Mobile Branch Van is coming to the Bronx and alternating locations weekly. These community stops include the sections of Hunts Point, Longwood/Prospect, Melrose and West Tremont/Morris Heights. Make sure to check out our weekly van schedule and subscribe to our Events Calendar.
