EXPANDING FINANCIAL  ACCESS

The Bronx Financial Access Coalition (BxFAC) formed in 2021 in response to a number of bank branch closures that hit our borough just before and during the pandemic. As four Bronx members of the Equitable Reinvestment Committee at ANHD, we took a united approach to our organizing work. Our collective work led to a strong partnership with our premier sponsor, Webster Bank, to expand access to affordable, convenient,y financial services for Bronx residents. We began our formal partnership with the Lower East Side People’s Federal Credit Union to launch the Bronx People’s Mobile Branch Van in 2022 to serve neighborhoods around the Bronx. We then celebrated the opening of the first brick-and-mortar location of the Bronx People’s Federal Credit Union at 941 Intervale Ave in December of 2024, with our ribbon cutting April of 2025!

The Bronx satellite branch is open from Monday – Friday from 9AM to 4PM. Anyone affiliated with one of the Credit Union’s Select Partner Groups, or living in a CDFI-eligible census tract in New York City (map tool), can become a member and access: Affordable Savings Accounts; Free Checking Accounts; ITIN Application Assistance; Credit Builder Loans; Low-Rate Personal Loans; Access to 30,000+ surcharge-free ATMS and more.
