EXPANDING FINANCIAL  ACCESS

The Bronx Financial Access Coalition (BxFAC) formed in 2021 in response to a number of bank branch closures that hit our borough just before and during the pandemic. As four Bronx members of the Equitable Reinvestment Committee at ANHD, we took a united approach to our organizing work. Our collective work led to a strong partnership with our premiere sponsor, Webster Bank, to expand access to affordable, convenient and quality financial services for Bronx residents. We began our formal partnership with the Lower East Side People’s Federal Credit Union to launch the Bronx People’s Mobile Branch Van in 2022. We have been serving neighborhoods around the Bronx ever since.           

We are also very excited to announce that the first brick and mortar location of the Bronx People’s Federal Credit Union recently opened at 941 Intervale Ave!The branch is open from Monday – Friday from 9AM to 4PM and we will be hosting a ribbon cutting event on Friday April 4 from 11AM to 1PM. We will also continue to deploy the People’s Mobile Branch to neighborhoods throughout the Bronx.  Anyone affiliated with one of the Credit Union’s Select Partner Groups can become a member and access: Affordable Savings Accounts; Free Checking Accounts; ITIN Application Assistance; Credit Builder Loans; Low-Rate Personal Loans; Access to 30,000+ surcharge-free ATMS and more.
